Disinfecting microorganism Pythium oligandrum of the kingdom of Stramenopila - Alveolata - Rhizaria represents the dividing line between fungi and algae. With its fibres, Pythium oligandrum penetrates into the parasite cells (yeasts or fungi) and extracts the necessary nutrition substances out of it. As part of nutrition and spatial competition, the fungus thus displaces pathogenic fungi from the skin compartments. The essence of Pythium oligandrum is the production of enzymes and parasitizing on fungal microorganisms. After it accomplishes this task (depletion of a parasite), it disappears from the area (the human body is not a natural environment for Pythium oligandrum, and it unable to adapt to this environment), which allows its resettlement by common microflora.

Microorganism Pythium oligandrum is the first approved biocide according to EU Regulation No. 2015/1610. Applied biotechnology eliminates mold by its direct parasitism and is considered by experts as the safest technology on the market today. Pythium oligandrum is a new, unique disinfectant microorganism which is available for further development of biocidal products in the EU and worldwide. The usage of this microorganism is patented in many countries and regions around the world.

Research of microorganism Pythium oligandrum led to the use of its ability to eliminate fungi and yeasts safely leading to development of various types of products able to provide users long-term and secure protection.
